Achnatherum coronatum merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan giant ricegrass. Nama ilmiah Achnatherum coronatum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama George Thurber pada tahun 1993. Nama spesies ini merupakan sinonim dari Eriocoma coronata.
