Capsella bursa-pastoris merupakan tumbuhan semusim atau dwimusim dari famili Brassicaceae (suku sawi-sawian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eurasia beriklim sedang, hingga Afrika utara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan shepherd's purse. Nama ilmiah Capsella bursa-pastoris diperkenalkan oleh Friedrich Kasimir Medikus pada tahun 1792.
