Ceiba pentandra

Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn.

Randu merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Ceiba pentandra ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga kawasan tropis Amerika. Randu juga dikenal dengan sebutan lain yaitu kapuk randu. Nama ilmiah Ceiba pentandra diperkenalkan oleh Joseph Gaertner pada tahun 1791.
