Emex spinosa merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Polygonaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan spiny threecornerjack. Nama ilmiah Emex spinosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Francisco Campderá pada tahun 1819.
