Acanthus polystachyus merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ethiopia hingga Tanzania barat laut. Nama ilmiah Acanthus polystachyus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Alire Raffeneau Delile pada tahun 1826.
