Erica arborea merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Ericaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Medit hingga Transkaukasia barat, wilayah pegunungan Afrikan tropis, Jazirah Arab. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan briar root. Nama ilmiah Erica arborea diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
