Dadap bong merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Erythrina microcarpa ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Filipina (Pulau Lubang), Jawa Timur. Nama ilmiah Erythrina microcarpa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Sijfert Hendrik Koorders pada tahun 1895.
