Ipomoea wrightii merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering. Nama ilmiah Ipomoea wrightii diperkenalkan oleh Asa Gray pada tahun 1878. Nama ini merupakan sinonim dari Ipomoea heptaphylla.
