Kumis kucing adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Nama ilmiah Orthosiphon stamineus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama George Bentham pada tahun 1830. Nama spesies ini merupakan sinonim dari Orthosiphon aristatus var. aristatus.
