Tagetes patula merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan french marigold. Nama ilmiah Tagetes patula diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753. Nama ini merupakan sinonim dari Tagetes erecta.
