Acer palmatum adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Sapindaceae (suku lerak-lerakan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Korea barat daya, Jepang tengah dan selatan. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan japanese maple. Nama ilmiah Acer palmatum diperkenalkan oleh Carl Peter Thunberg pada tahun 1784.
