Acalypha phleoides merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Selatan Serikat hingga Guatemala. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan shrubby copperleaf. Nama ilmiah Acalypha phleoides pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Antonio José Cavanilles pada tahun 1801.
