Acalypha pygmaea merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Kuba barat dan tengah. Nama ilmiah Acalypha pygmaea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Achille Richard pada tahun 1850.
