Acalypha villosa merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga kawasan tropis Amerika. Nama ilmiah Acalypha villosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin pada tahun 1763.
