Acer griseum merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Sapindaceae (suku lerak-lerakan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari China bagian tengah (hingga Henan barat daya). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan paperbark maple. Nama ilmiah Acer griseum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Adrien René Franchet pada tahun 1902.
