Acilepis principis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Thailand utara hingga Vietnam. Nama ilmiah Acilepis principis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama François Gagnepain pada tahun 2009.
