Aeschynomene atropurpurea merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Kepulauan Nusa Tenggara (Timor). Nama ilmiah Aeschynomene atropurpurea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johan Baptist Spanoghe pada tahun 1841.
