Ageratina adenophora merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Meksiko. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan sticky snakeroot. Nama ilmiah Ageratina adenophora diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Curt Polycarp Joachim Sprengel pada tahun 1970.
