Agrostemma githago merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Caryophyllaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa tenggara dan timur hingga Iran utara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan common corncockle. Nama ilmiah Agrostemma githago diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
