Alchornea costaricensis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika tengah hingga Ekuador. Nama ilmiah Alchornea costaricensis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Ferdinand Albin Pax pada tahun 1914.
