Allium cernuum merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Amaryllidaceae (suku bakung-bakungan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membetuk umbi lapis. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada barat dan selatan hingga Meksiko timur laut. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan nodding onion. Nama ilmiah Allium cernuum diperkenalkan oleh Albrecht Wilhelm Roth pada tahun 1798.
