Amorpha canescens merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Amerika Serikat bagian barat-tengah dan timur-barat-tengah. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan leadplant. Nama ilmiah Amorpha canescens diperkenalkan oleh Frederick Traugott Pursh pada tahun 1813.
