Andropogon brachystachyus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Amerika Serikat bagian tenggara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan shortspike bluestem. Nama ilmiah Andropogon brachystachyus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Alvan Wentworth Chapman pada tahun 1883.
