Andropogon hypogynus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Amerika selatan. Nama ilmiah Andropogon hypogynus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Eduard Hackel pada tahun 1883.
