Aphelandra scabra merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga Amerika Selatan bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Aphelandra scabra pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Martin Vahl pada tahun 1818.
