Aralia armata merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Araliaceae (suku mangkok-mangkokan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari India timur, Himalaya timur, China selatan, hingga Indo-China. Nama ilmiah Aralia armata diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Nathaniel Wallich pada tahun 1868.
