Argemone squarrosa merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Papaveraceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Kansas barat, Oklahoma, Colorado tenggara, New Mexico timur laut dan tenggara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan hedgehog pricklypoppy. Nama ilmiah Argemone squarrosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Edward Lee Greene pada tahun 1899.
