Artemisia rupestris merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim dingin (subalpin atau subarktik) dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa hingga Siberia dan Afghanistan. Nama ilmiah Artemisia rupestris diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
