Artemisia sericea merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa timur hingga Rusia Timur Jauh bagian tengah dan China utara. Nama ilmiah Artemisia sericea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Wilibald Swibert Joseph Gottlieb von Besser pada tahun 1775.
