Aster hispidus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Mongolia hingga Jepang dan Vietnam. Nama ilmiah Aster hispidus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Peter Thunberg pada tahun 1784.
