Aster maackii merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Mongolia hingga Jepang (Kyushu) dan China utara. Nama ilmiah Aster maackii diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Eduard August von Regel pada tahun 1861.
