Astragalus chinensis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Rusia Timur Jauh hingga China utara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan chinese milkvetch. Nama ilmiah Astragalus chinensis diperkenalkan oleh Carl Linnaeus the Younger pada tahun 1762.
