Astragalus gryphus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Afrika barat laut. Nama ilmiah Astragalus gryphus diperkenalkan oleh Ernest Saint-Charles Cosson pada tahun 1868.
