Astragalus sterilis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Oregon timur hingga Idaho. Nama ilmiah Astragalus sterilis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Rupert Charles Barneby pada tahun 1949.
