Avena strigosa merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Eropa barat daya. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan lopsided oat. Nama ilmiah Avena strigosa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber pada tahun 1771.
