Soapberry tree adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Zygophyllaceae. Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Balanites aegyptiaca ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Afrika, Israel hingga Jazirah Arab. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan desert date. Nama ilmiah Balanites aegyptiaca diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Alire Raffeneau Delile pada tahun 1813.
