Bambusa teres merupakan tumbuhan bambu dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Himalaya barat-tengah hingga China (Sichuan barat dan Yunnan barat laut). Nama ilmiah Bambusa teres pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Francis Buchanan-Hamilton pada tahun 1868.
