Baphia nitida merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Afrika barat dan barat-tengah. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan camwood. Nama ilmiah Baphia nitida diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama George Loddiges pada tahun 1820.
