Barbacenia aurea merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Velloziaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Brazil (Minas Gerais). Nama ilmiah Barbacenia aurea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Lyman Bradford Smith pada tahun 1976.
