Berberis japonica merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Berberidaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Taiwan. Nama ilmiah Berberis japonica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Peter Thunberg pada tahun 1825.
