Biophytum abyssinicum merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Oxalidaceae (suku belimbing-belimbingan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Nigeria hingga Eritrea dan Caprivi Strip. Nama ilmiah Biophytum abyssinicum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Ernst Gottlieb von Steudel pada tahun 1848.
