Boswellia serrata merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Burseraceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah anak benua India. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan indian frankincense. Nama ilmiah Boswellia serrata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis William Roxburgh pada tahun 1807.
