Bothriochloa radicans merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eritrea hingga Afrika Selatan dan Jazirah Arab. Nama ilmiah Bothriochloa radicans pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johann Georg Christian Lehmann pada tahun 1931.
