Bouteloua juncea merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko selatan, Kuba timur, hingga Puerto Rico. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan lamilla. Nama ilmiah Bouteloua juncea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Nicaise Auguste Desvaux pada tahun 1913.
