Brickellia grandiflora merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Serikat bagian barat dan tengah hingga Meksiko. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan tasselflower brickellbush. Nama ilmiah Brickellia grandiflora pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis William Jackson Hooker pada tahun 1840.
