Bridelia cathartica merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Phyllanthaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ethiopia hingga Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Bridelia cathartica pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Antonio Bertoloni pada tahun 1854.
