Dungun air adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Brownlowia tersa ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari India timur hingga kawasan Malesia. Nama ilmiah Brownlowia tersa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis André Joseph Guillaume Henri Kostermans pada tahun 1959.
