Carduus nutans subsp. platypus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Portugal timur dan timur-tengah laut hingga Spanyol tengah dan barat laut. Nama ilmiah Carduus nutans subsp. platypus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Johan Martin Christian Lange pada tahun 2003.
