Carduus thracicus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Bulgaria tengah dan timur. Nama ilmiah Carduus thracicus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Josef Velenovský pada tahun 1931.
