Carex alligata merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Kepulauan Hawaii. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan hawai'i sedge. Nama ilmiah Carex alligata diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Francis Boott pada tahun 1867.
